All Details
I am the Amla NA-7, the prolific and improved jewel of the orchard. My dense, leafy canopy yields abundant, glossy green fruits prized for their tangy-sweet flavor and high vitamin C content, making me a reliable and modern choice for productive home gardens and farms.
I am a high-yielding, grafted cultivar of the Indian Gooseberry (Amla), specifically developed for superior fruit size, consistent production, and adaptability to various growing conditions.
A cultivated variety developed in India; "NA-7" is a specific, popular clone known for its commercial and home garden viability.
Water deeply and regularly, especially during fruit set and development. Once established, moderately drought-tolerant, but consistent moisture improves fruit quality.
Requires full sun (at least 6-8 hours daily) for optimal growth, flowering, and fruiting.
Thrives in a wide range (10-35°C); hardy and can tolerate light frost once mature.
Plant in deep, well-drained loamy soil. Space trees 4-5 meters apart to allow for mature canopy spread.
Feed with well-rotted farmyard manure and a balanced NPK fertilizer twice a year (spring and post-monsoon) for heavy fruiting.
Botanical name: Phyllanthus emblica 'NA-7' (Indian Gooseberry/Amla cultivar); Family: Phyllanthaceae.
Fruits are non-toxic and edible for humans; generally considered safe for pets, but large pits may pose a choking risk.
Moderate to High; as a fruit tree, I contribute to oxygen production, soil health, and ecosystem support.
Produces highly nutritious fruits rich in antioxidants for fresh eating, pickles, and Ayurvedic preparations; provides good shade; a valuable agroforestry tree.
Can be susceptible to fruit borers and rust fungus; young trees may need protection from intense sun and pests.
Long-lived perennial tree; can remain productive for 50-70 years, growing 4-6 meters tall at maturity.
