All Details

I am the Asparagus Sprengeri, the cascading waterfall of green needles. My long, trailing stems are densely covered with bright green, needle-like cladodes, creating a soft, fern-like texture that spills beautifully over edges, perfect for hanging baskets and lush ground cover.

I am a fast-growing, evergreen perennial plant, valued for my delicate, airy foliage and vigorous trailing habit, often used in hanging displays, as ground cover, or as a filler in floral arrangements.

Native to South Africa; widely naturalized and cultivated in warm climates around the world.

Water regularly to keep soil consistently moist during active growth. Tolerates slight dryness once established but prefers even moisture.

Prefers bright, indirect light. Can tolerate some direct morning sun but may scorch in intense afternoon light.

Thrives in moderate to warm temperatures (18-24°C). Hardy to light frost but damaged by hard freezes.

Plant in well-draining, fertile soil. Ideal for hanging baskets, containers, or as a spreading ground cover in frost-free areas.

Feed monthly during spring and summer with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer diluted to half strength.

Botanical name: Asparagus aethiopicus (syn. Asparagus densiflorus 'Sprengeri'); Common names: Sprenger's Asparagus, Emerald Fern; Family: Asparagaceae.

Toxic to cats and dogs if ingested. The berries are particularly harmful and can cause vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain.

Moderate; helps increase humidity and contributes to a healthier indoor environment.

Excellent for adding soft, cascading greenery to vertical spaces; fast-growing and fills containers quickly; effective for erosion control on slopes in suitable climates.

Can become invasive in warm, humid climates; susceptible to spider mites and scale insects; yellowing or browning of needles from underwatering, overwatering, or low humidity.

Perennial in zones 9-11; can live for many years, with stems trailing or spreading up to 1-1.5 meters long. Often grown as an annual in colder regions.

Everyday 8:30AM to 6:30PM
