All Details

Namaste, peace seeker! I am Nag Champa, the beloved aromatic plant known worldwide for my deeply spiritual and calming fragrance. While I’m famously connected to the traditional Indian incense, my essence comes from the beautiful Champaca tree. I bring serenity, sacred vibes, and a touch of timeless tradition to your garden and home.

I’m a tropical tree admired for my highly fragrant, golden-yellow or cream-colored flowers.
My blooms are star-shaped and carry an intense, sweet, and exotic perfume, especially strong in the evenings.
I’m deeply rooted in Indian culture—used in temples, meditation, and spiritual rituals for centuries.
I make a beautiful ornamental tree for gardens and can also be grown in large containers.

I am native to the tropical regions of South and Southeast Asia, including India, Nepal, and Thailand.

Keep my soil consistently moist but not waterlogged.
Water me 2–3 times a week during summer, and reduce frequency in winter or rainy seasons.
I love humidity, so misting my leaves occasionally is appreciated!

I thrive in full sun to partial shade.
Aim for at least 4–6 hours of sunlight daily for the best growth and flowering.

I prefer warm, humid climates with temperatures between 20°C and 35°C.
I’m sensitive to frost and cold winds—please protect me during chilly winters.

Choose a sunny or partly shaded spot with enough space for my mature size.

Use well-draining, rich soil mixed with compost and sand.

Plant me at the same depth as I was in the nursery container.

Water deeply after planting and apply organic mulch around the base.

Prune lightly after the flowering season to maintain shape.

For container growth, use a large pot and refresh the soil every couple of years.

Feed me with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer (NPK 10-10-10 or similar) every 6–8 weeks during the growing season.
Organic options like compost, cow manure, or vermicompost are also wonderful for my health and fragrance.

I’m generally considered non-toxic, but it’s always best to keep my flowers and leaves away from pets who might be tempted to chew.

While I'm best known for my fragrance, I also contribute to purifying the air by absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen and natural aromatic compounds.

My flowers are used to make the world-famous Nag Champa incense and perfumes.

Adds divine fragrance to gardens, balconies, and indoor spaces.

Promotes calmness, mindfulness, and a soothing atmosphere—perfect for yoga and meditation spaces.

Attracts pollinators like bees and butterflies with my sweet scent.

Aphids or scale insects – Check my leaves and stems regularly.

Yellowing leaves – Often due to overwatering or poor drainage.

Bud drop – Caused by sudden temperature changes or water stress.

Sooty mold – May develop if pests like aphids are present.
