Hello, my friend! I am the Madhumalti Creeper, your vibrant and vigorous flowering companion! I'm a fast-growing vine that loves to climb, covering walls, arches, and fences in a spectacular blanket of color. My most magical feature is my fragrant flowers, which change hue as they mature—starting as a shy white, blushing to a soft pink, and finally deepening to a passionate red, often all on the same cluster!

I am an enthusiastic, perennial climbing vine, known for my rapid growth and stunning floral displays.
My long, twining stems need support to climb, and I will happily cover any structure you provide for me.
I'm perfect for creating a living curtain, a fragrant entrance arch, or a dazzling focal point in your garden.

I am a native of tropical Asia, including India, and I thrive in warm, sunny climates.

I enjoy consistently moist soil, especially when I'm young and during the hot, blooming season.
Water me deeply 2-3 times a week during summer, allowing the top inch of soil to dry out between waterings.
Once established, I am relatively drought-tolerant, but for lush growth and abundant flowers, regular watering is key. Avoid waterlogged soil.

I am a sun-lover! I need full, direct sunlight for at least 6-8 hours a day to produce my best and most colorful blooms.
While I can manage in partial shade, my flowering will be significantly reduced, and I may become leggy as I stretch for the sun.

I flourish in warm temperatures between 20°C and 35°C.
I am sensitive to frost and cold winters. In regions with freezing temperatures, I can be grown in a large container and moved to a sheltered spot indoors during the coldest months.

Support is Key: Before planting, set up a strong, permanent support structure like a sturdy trellis, pergola, arch, or fence.

Soil: I adapt to most well-draining soils. A mix of garden soil, compost, and some sand for drainage is perfect.

Planting: Dig a hole twice as wide as my root ball. Place me near the base of the support and fill the hole with soil, firming it gently.

Training: Gently tie my young, flexible stems to the support to guide them upwards. Once I latch on, I will climb on my own.

I am a heavy feeder due to my rapid growth and prolific blooming.
Feed me with a phosphorus-rich fertilizer (like a Bloom Booster, e.g., NPK 10:30:10) or a generous helping of vermicompost or cow manure compost every 3-4 weeks during the active growing season (spring through fall). This fuels my spectacular flower show.

Scientific Name: Combretum indicum

Common Names: Rangoon Creeper, Burma Creeper, Akar Dani

Plant Family: Combretaceae

Plant Type: Perennial Deciduous Climbing Vine

Caution is advised. While the plant is generally not considered highly toxic, the seeds and fruits are known to have medicinal properties and can be toxic if ingested in large quantities. It is safest to assume I am not pet-friendly and to keep me out of reach of curious cats, dogs, and children.

As a lush, leafy vine, I contribute to cleaner air by absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen. My greatest gift, however, is the breathtaking beauty and enchanting fragrance I bring to your outdoor space.

Fast-Growing Screen: I quickly create a dense, living privacy screen or hide unsightly walls.

Color-Changing Blooms: My tricolor flowers provide a constantly evolving and mesmerizing display.

Evening Fragrance: My sweet, intense scent fills the air in the evenings, creating a romantic and calming atmosphere.

Pollinator Magnet: I attract butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds, adding life and movement to your garden.

Lack of Flowers: The #1 reason is not enough sun. Ensure I am planted in a full-sun location.

Pests: Watch for aphids, mealybugs, and spider mites on new growth and flower buds. Treat with a strong water spray or neem oil.

Powdery Mildew: Can occur in humid conditions with poor air circulation. Prune to improve airflow.

Overgrowth: I can be vigorous! Regular pruning after the main flowering season helps control my size and encourages bushier growth.

I am a long-lived perennial vine. With proper care and in a suitable climate, I can become a permanent and beloved feature in your garden, thriving and blooming for many years. My base becomes woody with age, ensuring my strength and longevity.
