Hey there, friend! I'm the Buddha Bamboo, your spiritual and graceful companion that brings serene beauty and symbolic meaning to your garden. With my unique swollen internodes and elegant canes, I'm here to create a peaceful, meditative atmosphere that nourishes both your garden and your soul!

I'm a special clumping bamboo variety known for my distinctive swollen internodes that resemble the belly of Buddha, creating a unique and captivating appearance.
Gardeners and spiritual seekers adore me for my symbolic significance, non-invasive growth habit, and the calming presence I bring to any space.
I'm perfect for Zen gardens, meditation spaces, containers, and as a focal point — anywhere you want to create a tranquil, harmonious environment!

I originally come from the tropical regions of China and Southeast Asia, where I've been cherished for centuries in temple gardens and spiritual landscapes.

Water me regularly to keep the soil consistently moist but well-drained.
I prefer consistent moisture, especially during hot weather and when establishing.
Once mature, I become quite drought-tolerant but still appreciate regular watering.

I thrive in partial shade to full sun — 4-6 hours of sunlight daily is ideal.
I can adapt to various light conditions but protect me from intense, all-day direct sun.
Filtered sunlight often brings out my best growth and color

I'm comfortable in temperatures between 15°C and 32°C.
I'm sensitive to frost and need protection from freezing temperatures.

Choose a location with well-draining soil and adequate space

Dig a hole twice as wide as my root ball

Plant me at the same depth I was in my container

Water thoroughly after planting

Mulch around my base to retain moisture

Space multiple plants 3-5 feet apart

Provide some wind protection for young plants

Feed me with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring.
I love organic options like compost or well-rotted manure.
I'm a moderate feeder — regular but light feeding works best!

Scientific Name: Bambusa ventricosa

Common Names: Buddha Bamboo, Buddha's Belly Bamboo, Swollen Bamboo

Plant Family: Poaceae

Plant Type: Outdoor Ornamental Bamboo

I'm non-toxic and safe for cats, dogs, and other pets — making me a worry-free choice for pet-friendly gardens!

I'm excellent at improving air quality by absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen, while my dense foliage helps filter dust and pollutants from the air!
