I am the vibrant Hamelia, nature's hummingbird magnet. My clusters of fiery tubular flowers and glossy green to bronze-tinged foliage create a dazzling display of color and wildlife activity in warm-climate gardens from summer through fall.
I am a fast-growing, evergreen flowering shrub or small tree, valued for my continuous blooms and wildlife appeal.
Native to the American tropics and subtropics (Florida, the Caribbean, Central and South America).
Water regularly to establish, then moderately; drought-tolerant once mature but blooms best with consistent moisture.
Full sun to partial shade; maximum flowering occurs in full sun.
Thrives in 20-35°C; can be damaged by frost but often recovers in spring.
Plant in well-drained soil; space 1.5-2.5 meters apart to allow for mature spread.
Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring and mid-summer to support growth and flowering.
