All Details

I am the Elaichi plant, the queen of spices shrouded in mystery. My elegant, tall leafy stems hide precious pods at their base, each containing the world's most valued aromatic seeds—a treasure of flavor, fragrance, and ancient wellness.

I am a tender, herbaceous perennial plant, grown for my highly prized seed pods (cardamom), which are the third most expensive spice in the world, used globally in cuisines, beverages, and traditional medicine.

Native to the moist, evergreen forests of the Western Ghats in South India; also cultivated in Sri Lanka, Guatemala, and Tanzania.

Requires consistently moist, but not waterlogged, soil. High humidity and regular watering are essential, especially during dry periods.

Prefers dappled shade or filtered sunlight, mimicking its natural forest understory habitat. Direct harsh sun can scorch leaves.

Thrives in a warm, humid, and stable climate (18-28°C); highly sensitive to frost, drought, and temperature fluctuations.

Plant in rich, loamy, acidic to neutral soil with exceptional drainage. Often grown in sheltered, shaded beds or as an understory crop.

Feed regularly during the growing season with organic manure or a balanced, slow-release fertilizer rich in nitrogen and potassium.

Botanical name: Elettaria cardamomum; Common names: True Cardamom, Green Cardamom; Family: Zingiberaceae (Ginger family).

Toxic to cats, dogs, and horses if ingested in large quantities due to essential oils. Small culinary amounts are typically safe.

Moderate; contributes to a humid microclimate and the lush greenery improves ambient air quality.

Produces the coveted green cardamom pods for culinary and medicinal use; the plant itself is ornamental with attractive foliage; a high-value cash crop.

Susceptible to rhizome rot and viral diseases like mosaic virus; requires very specific shade and humidity conditions; pests include thrips and shoot borers.

Productive for 10-15 years after maturity, with plants growing 2-4 meters tall under ideal conditions.

Everyday 8:30AM to 6:30PM
