Hey there, friend! I'm the Bottle Brush Plant, your vibrant and eye-catching companion that brings a spectacular display of color and unique beauty to your garden. With my stunning brush-like flowers and evergreen foliage, I'm here to create a dramatic focal point that will have everyone talking!
I'm a beautiful flowering shrub or small tree known for my extraordinary cylindrical, brush-shaped flowers that come in vibrant shades of red, pink, yellow, or white.
Gardeners and nature enthusiasts adore me for my spectacular blooms, drought tolerance, and my amazing ability to attract hummingbirds and pollinators to the garden.
I'm perfect as a specimen plant, for hedges, and in wildlife gardens — anywhere you want to make a bold, colorful statement!
I originally come from the beautiful landscapes of Australia, where I thrive in warm climates and have become a beloved garden favorite worldwide.
Water me regularly during my first year to establish a strong root system.
Once established, I'm quite drought-tolerant and need minimal watering.
I prefer deep, infrequent watering rather than frequent light sprinklings
I absolutely love full sun for 6-8 hours daily for the best flowering display!
The more sun I get, the more spectacular my colorful brushes will be.
I can tolerate some light shade but will produce fewer flowers.
I'm comfortable in warm temperatures between 15°C and 35°C.
I'm sensitive to frost and need protection from freezing temperatures.
Choose a sunny location with well-draining soil
Dig a hole twice as wide as my root ball
Plant me at the same depth I was in my container
Water thoroughly after planting
Mulch around my base to retain moisture
Space multiple plants 5-10 feet apart depending on variety
Prune lightly after flowering to maintain shape
Feed me with a slow-release, native plant fertilizer in spring.
I also appreciate compost or well-rotted manure.
I'm not a heavy feeder — too much fertilizer can reduce my flowering!
Scientific Name: Callistemon spp.
Common Names: Bottlebrush, Crimson Bottlebrush, Lemon Bottlebrush
Plant Family: Myrtaceae
Plant Type: Outdoor Flowering Shrub/Tree
I'm generally considered non-toxic to pets, making me a safe choice for pet-friendly gardens!
As an evergreen plant with abundant foliage, I'm excellent at absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen, while also helping to filter dust and pollutants from the air!
Spectacular, long-lasting colorful flowers
Excellent drought tolerance once established
Attracts hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies
Low maintenance and pest-resistant
Root rot (overwatering or poor drainage)
Leaf spot in humid conditions
Scale insects (treat with horticultural oil)
Yellowing leaves (nutrient deficiency)
Proper care usually prevents these issues!
I'm a long-lived plant that can grace your garden for decades — typically 20-40 years, growing larger and more magnificent with each passing year, with some varieties reaching up to 15 feet tall!
