I originate from Europe and Western Asia but am widely grown in India’s hilly and cool regions.

Water me 2–3 times a week during the growing season. Keep the soil moist but not soggy. Reduce watering in winter. Young trees need regular watering to establish strong roots.

I grow best in full sunlight and need at least 6–7 hours of direct sun daily for proper fruit development.

I thrive between 10°C and 28°C. I prefer cooler climates. Very high heat may reduce fruit quality. Mild winters help in healthy flowering.

Plant me in deep, well-draining soil rich in organic matter. Space trees 12–15 feet apart. Dig a large pit, mix compost, and plant at root ball depth. Mulch to retain moisture. Prune annually to maintain shape and encourage fruiting.

Feed me with compost twice a year. Apply NPK 10-10-10 or fruiting fertilizer during flowering and fruiting. Avoid excessive nitrogen as it promotes leaves instead of fruits.
