I am a charming, fast-growing flowering vine known for my clusters of small, rose-like blossoms that bloom in vibrant shades of pink, red, white, or purple. Though not a true rose, my delicate flowers and twining habit make me a lovely choice for covering walls, trellises, fences, and arbors with a cascade of color. I am especially admired for my ability to create a romantic, floral curtain in gardens and outdoor spaces.

Native to tropical and subtropical regions of Asia, particularly India and China, I have been widely cultivated in warm climates around the world. I am a favorite in cottage gardens, tropical landscapes, and as a decorative climber in South and Southeast Asia.

I prefer regular watering to keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. During hot and dry periods, water me deeply once or twice a week. Reduce watering in cooler months. Good drainage is essential to prevent root rot.

I thrive in full sun to partial shade. For abundant blooms, provide at least 4–6 hours of direct sunlight daily. In very hot climates, I appreciate some afternoon shade to protect my flowers from scorching.

I flourish in warm temperatures between 18°C to 32°C. I am sensitive to frost and prolonged cold below 10°C, which can damage my foliage and reduce flowering. In colder regions, I can be grown as an annual or in pots brought indoors in winter.

Plant me in well-draining, fertile soil enriched with organic compost. Provide a strong support structure like a trellis, fence, or pergola for me to climb. Space plants about 1–1.5 meters apart to allow for spreading growth.

Feed me every 4–6 weeks during the growing season with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer. A phosphorus-rich fertilizer can encourage more prolific blooming. Avoid over-fertilizing, which can lead to excessive foliage at the expense of flowers.

Botanical name: Antigonon leptopus (commonly known as Coral Vine, Mexican Creeper, or Queen’s Wreath). Family: Polygonaceae. In some regions, "Rose Creeper" also refers to Rosa climbers, but commonly it points to non-rose flowering vines like Antigonon with rose-like blooms.

Generally considered non-toxic to pets, though it’s always wise to prevent pets from chewing on any garden plant to avoid mild digestive discomfort.

Moderate. My dense foliage helps absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen, contributing to cleaner air in outdoor spaces. I am not typically grown for indoor air purification.

I add quick, lush coverage and vibrant floral displays to gardens, balconies, and walls. I attract bees, butterflies, and other pollinators. I am also relatively low-maintenance and drought-tolerant once established.

Susceptible to aphids, spider mites, and whiteflies. Fungal issues like powdery mildew may occur in humid conditions with poor air circulation. Lack of blooms often results from insufficient sunlight or over-fertilization with nitrogen.

In tropical and subtropical climates, I can live as a perennial vine for 5–10 years or more. In cooler areas, I may be grown as an annual but can self-seed and return in subsequent growing seasons under favorable conditions.
