I am a highly fragrant, fast-growing climbing vine cherished for my clusters of small, pure white, star-shaped flowers that release an intoxicating, sweet scent, especially in the evenings. Often called "Climbing Jasmine" or "Star Jasmine," I am widely used to adorn trellises, fences, pergolas, and balconies, where I create a lush, fragrant curtain of green and white. My twining stems and glossy leaves add to my ornamental appeal in gardens and outdoor spaces.

My twining stems and glossy leaves add to my ornamental appeal in gardens and outdoor spaces.
Native to tropical and subtropical regions of Southeast Asia, particularly India and China, I have been cultivated for centuries for my fragrance and ornamental value. I am a beloved plant in Indian gardens and are often associated with festivals, weddings, and religious ceremonies.
I prefer regular watering to keep the soil consistently moist, especially during the growing season. Allow the top inch of soil to dry slightly between waterings. Reduce watering in winter when growth slows. Avoid waterlogging, which can cause root rot.
I thrive in full sun to partial shade. For the best flowering and strongest fragrance, provide at least 4–6 hours of direct sunlight daily. In very hot climates, I benefit from afternoon shade to protect my blooms from scorching.
I flourish in warm, humid climates, with temperatures between 20°C to 35°C. I am sensitive to frost and temperatures below 10°C, which can damage my foliage and reduce blooming. In colder regions, I can be grown in containers and brought indoors during winter.
Plant me in rich, well-draining soil amended with compost. Provide a sturdy trellis, fence, or support structure for me to climb. Space plants about 1–2 meters apart to allow for spreading growth and good air circulation.
Feed me every 4–6 weeks during the growing season with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer. A phosphorus-rich fertilizer can encourage more abundant and fragrant blooms. Avoid over-fertilizing, which can lead to excessive foliage with fewer flowers.
Botanical name: Jasminum grandiflorum (Spanish Jasmine) or Jasminum officinale (Poet's Jasmine) in climbing forms. Family: Oleaceae. I am often called "Mogra Creeper" in India, though true Mogra (Jasminum sambac) is usually a shrub.
Generally non-toxic to pets, though ingestion of large amounts of leaves or flowers may cause mild stomach upset in some animals. It's best to keep me out of reach of curious pets.
Moderate. I help improve outdoor air quality by absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen. My fragrance also contributes to a refreshing and calming garden atmosphere.
I provide enchanting fragrance and beautiful white blooms, making me ideal for romantic and sensory gardens. I attract pollinators like bees and butterflies. My flowers are often used in garlands, perfumes, and religious offerings.
Susceptible to aphids, mealybugs, and spider mites, especially in dry conditions. Fungal leaf spots or powdery mildew may occur in humid environments with poor air circulation. Yellowing leaves can indicate overwatering or nutrient deficiency.
With proper care, I can live for 10–15 years or more as a perennial climbing vine. I bloom profusely during the warm months and can be pruned to maintain shape and encourage new growth.
