I am a resilient and fast-growing evergreen climber known for my lush, glossy green leaves and clusters of small, fragrant, white or creamy-yellow star-shaped flowers. I am often called "Madhumalati" or "Honey-suckle Creeper" and am cherished for my sweet evening fragrance and ability to densely cover walls, fences, and pergolas. My vigorous growth and low-maintenance nature make me a popular choice for creating green screens and adding natural beauty to gardens.

Native to tropical and subtropical regions of Asia, including India, China, and Malaysia, I have been widely cultivated in warm climates worldwide. I thrive in humid environments and am a common sight in Indian gardens, temples, and traditional landscapes.

I prefer moderate, regular watering. Keep the soil consistently moist during the growing season but well-drained. Reduce watering in winter. Overwatering can cause root rot, while drought may lead to leaf drop.

I thrive in full sun to partial shade. For best flowering and densest growth, provide at least 4–6 hours of direct sunlight daily. I can tolerate shade but may produce fewer blooms.

I flourish in warm, humid climates, with temperatures between 18°C to 35°C. I am sensitive to frost and prolonged cold below 10°C. In cooler regions, I can be grown in pots and protected indoors during winter.

Plant me in well-draining, fertile soil amended with compost. Provide sturdy support such as a trellis, wall grid, or fence for climbing. Space plants 1–2 meters apart to allow for spreading.

Feed me every 4–6 weeks during the growing season with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer. A phosphorus-rich fertilizer can enhance flowering. Avoid over-fertilizing with nitrogen, which can promote leafy growth at the expense of blooms.

Botanical name: Combretum indicum (also known as Quisqualis indica), commonly called Rangoon Creeper or Chinese Honeysuckle. Family: Combretaceae. My flowers change color as they mature, often starting white and turning pink or red.

Generally considered safe for pets, though ingestion of large amounts may cause mild stomach upset. It is best to keep me out of reach to prevent any potential issues.

Moderate. My dense foliage helps absorb carbon dioxide, release oxygen, and trap dust, improving air quality in outdoor spaces. I also contribute to a cooler microclimate.

I provide fast coverage, fragrant blooms, and attractive foliage, making me ideal for privacy screens, green walls, and decorative arches. I attract pollinators like butterflies and hummingbirds. I am also drought-tolerant once established.

Susceptible to mealybugs, aphids, and scale insects. Fungal issues like powdery mildew may occur in humid conditions with poor airflow. Yellowing leaves can signal overwatering or nutrient deficiency.

I am a long-lived perennial vine and can thrive for 10–20 years or more with proper care. I bloom repeatedly during warm months, especially in tropical climates.
