I am a unique and eye-catching trailing succulent, loved for my curved, hook-shaped leaves that resemble tiny green fishhooks. My fleshy leaves grow along long, cascading stems, giving me a playful and sculptural look. I am commonly known as the Fishhook Plant and am perfect for hanging baskets, shelves, and balcony gardens where my trails can flow freely.
I am a trailing succulent with curved, hook-like leaves. My cascading stems make me ideal for hanging baskets and decorative displays.
Native to South Africa, I belong to the Asteraceae family. I am closely related to String of Pearls and String of Bananas.
I require watering every 2 weeks during the growing season. In winter, reduce watering. Overwatering causes root rot.
I thrive in bright, indirect light. Outdoors, I prefer partial sun. Indoors, a sunny window keeps me healthy.
I flourish in warm climates between 20–30°C. I am sensitive to frost and must be protected in winter.
Plant me in well-draining succulent soil. Hanging baskets or tall pots highlight my trailing habit.
Feed me lightly with cactus fertilizer once in spring. Too much fertilizer weakens my growth.
Botanical name: Senecio radicans. Family: Asteraceae. Common names: Fishhook Plant, String of Fishhooks.
I am mildly toxic to pets if ingested, causing stomach upset. Keep me out of reach of cats and dogs.
Low; my primary value is ornamental.
I provide ornamental beauty, unique trailing foliage, and easy care.
Overwatering leads to root rot. Pests like mealybugs may attack in humid conditions.
I can live for many years with proper care, continuously producing new trailing stems.
