I am a premium mango variety, admired for my attractive golden-yellow skin, smooth texture, and rich, sweet flavor. Known as Mango Sonpari, I produce medium to large-sized fruits with a pleasant aroma and juicy, fiberless pulp, making me a favorite for fresh eating.
I am a hybrid mango variety combining the best traits of Alphonso and Baneshan. My fruits are medium to large, golden-yellow, fiberless, and sweet, making me a premium choice for consumers and farmers alike.
I was developed at the Agriculture Experimental Station, Paria, Gujarat, and released in 2000. My parentage is Alphonso × Baneshan, designed to improve taste, yield, and disease resistance.
I require moderate watering, especially during flowering and fruiting. Irrigation every 10–15 days in dry seasons ensures healthy fruit set and prevents stress.
I thrive in full sun, which enhances my fruit’s sweetness and color. Shade reduces flowering and delays ripening.
I flourish in warm tropical climates between 24–35°C. I am sensitive to frost but tolerate Gujarat’s hot summers well.
Plant me in well-drained loamy soil with spacing of 8–10 meters. I am suitable for commercial orchards and home gardens, with vigorous growth and medium-sized trees.
I respond well to organic manure and balanced NPK fertilizer. Fertilization during flowering and fruit development improves yield and fruit quality.
Botanical name: Mangifera indica cv. Sonpari. Family: Anacardiaceae. I am monoembryonic, meaning my seeds do not breed true to type.
My fruit is safe for humans and pets, but my leaves and sap may cause mild irritation if chewed.
Moderate; like other mango trees, my canopy helps trap dust and improve orchard microclimates.
I provide delicious fruits, high yields, and better disease resistance compared to Alphonso. Farmers value me for profitability, while consumers enjoy my taste and fiberless texture.
I am less prone to spongy tissue than Alphonso, but can still suffer from pests like fruit flies, powdery mildew, and anthracnose.
I can live 40–60 years, with peak fruit production between 10–30 years. My trees remain vigorous and profitable for decades.
