All Details

I am the majestic Musanda, the regal "Queen of the Tropics." My grand, cone-shaped clusters of vibrant flowers in rich hues and deep green, velvety leaves create a stunning architectural statement in any warm-climate garden.

I am a striking tropical flowering shrub or small tree, revered for my bold flower spikes and lush, textured foliage that commands attention in landscapes.

Native to tropical West Africa; widely cultivated as an ornamental in tropical and subtropical regions worldwide.

Water regularly and deeply to keep soil consistently moist, especially during dry periods and blooming season. Do not allow to dry out completely.

Thrives in full sun to partial shade; flowers most vibrantly with at least 6 hours of direct sun.

Prefers warm, humid conditions (20-30°C); sensitive to frost and cold winds.

Plant in rich, moist, well-drained soil; space 1-2 meters apart for shrubs or 3-4 meters for tree forms.

Feed monthly during the growing season with a balanced, high-potassium fertilizer to support large flower production.

Botanical name: Mussaenda (common species: Mussaenda erythrophylla, M. philippica); Family: Rubiaceae.

Generally considered non-toxic to cats and dogs, but it's prudent to prevent ingestion.

Moderate; contributes to improved air quality and humidity through transpiration.

Provides spectacular, long-lasting floral displays; attracts butterflies and hummingbirds; excellent as a specimen plant, hedge, or in mixed borders.

Susceptible to mealybugs, aphids, and spider mites; leaf chlorosis (yellowing) due to nutrient deficiency; fungal leaf spots in high humidity.

Perennial shrub; can live for 10-15+ years, growing 2-4 meters tall and wide in optimal conditions.

Everyday 8:30AM to 6:30PM
