I am the Lemon Baramasi, the ever-present zesty companion. My glossy green leaves and fragrant white blossoms yield a continuous supply of tangy, juicy lemons year-round, bringing the gift of fresh citrus flavor and vitamin C to your kitchen in every season.
I am a prolific, evergreen citrus tree cultivar, specifically the 'Baramasi' (meaning "twelve-month") variety, prized for its ability to flower and fruit almost continuously throughout the year.
A cultivated variety of lemon, developed and widely grown in the Indian subcontinent for its non-seasonal, reliable fruit production.
Water regularly to keep soil consistently moist but never waterlogged. Allow the topsoil to dry slightly between waterings.
Requires full sun (at least 6-8 hours daily) for healthy growth, flowering, and fruiting.
Thrives in warm climates (18-32°C); sensitive to frost and prolonged cold.
Plant in well-drained, slightly acidic to neutral soil. Space trees 3-4 meters apart. Can be grown in large containers.
Feed every 6-8 weeks with a balanced citrus-specific fertilizer high in nitrogen and micronutrients.
Botanical name: Citrus × limon 'Baramasi' (likely a cultivar of Citrus limon); Family: Rutaceae.
Toxic to cats, dogs, and horses. The essential oils (especially in peels, leaves, and seeds) and psoralens can cause vomiting, depression, and photosensitivity.
Moderate; emits a fresh scent and contributes to a pleasant outdoor or indoor (if in a bright spot) environment.
Provides a constant supply of fresh lemons for culinary, cleaning, and health uses; fragrant flowers beautify the garden; excellent for container gardening in sunny spots.
Susceptible to citrus canker, leaf miners, aphids, and scale insects; nutrient deficiencies (like yellowing leaves) in poor soils; root rot from overwatering.
Long-lived perennial tree; can remain productive for 20-30+ years, growing 2-4 meters tall, but can be kept smaller with pruning.
